Wigan became a winter wonderland last night when the town's Christmas lights were switched on by Big Brother star Luke Marsden.
The star-studded event signalled the beginning of late-night and Sunday shopping.
Celebrity guests which attracted huge crowds, included Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic stars.

Entertainment was provided by X-Factor finalists Same Difference, singer Scott Chapman and St Helens band The Cut.
Tomorrow shoppers will get the chance to take part in a fire walk at Market Place. Professionals will be on hand to take you through your paces, helping you to focus your mind.

On Sunday, November 23, Father Christmas will be taking a break from his hectic schedule to take part in a Christmas parade.
He is even bringing a couple of his reindeer with him.

The parade begins at 1pm from Mesnes Park and will end at Market Place.
And from today until Sunday, Grand Arcade lingerie retailer La Senza will be brining its "Bra Bus" to Standishgate, offering free bra measuring and advice.

On Saturday, December 13, there will be carol singing at Market Place and the following week, Saturday December 20, there will be a big Christmas sing-a-long.

Wigan's town centre manager Mike Matthews said: "There is definitely something for everyone in Wigan town centre.
"We've got the traditional mixed with the modern and the exotic mixed with everything that's good about Christmas at home. And as always there will be the warm Wigan welcome."

Will we have a real Santa's Grotto for our children in Wigan this year or do we have to make do with the 'interactive' tv screens again ?

Thats it now,he's all worked out.I suppose he has to do these "gigs",because he better be saving his pennies.I have a feeling this will be the last work he does for a while on the back of that muppet show he was on.Thankfully i dont have to go into town very often, avoid the place when and hwerever possible!.
