A care worker from Wigan accused of stealing an elderly woman's cash has appeared before a Liverpool Crown Court judge.
Edna Causey, of Enfield Street, Pemberton, is alleged to have taken £26,229 between October 2006 and April 2008 from a bank account belonging to 78-year-old Roseanne Clayton.

Jane Dagnall, prosecuting, told Judge Sean Duncan that the allegations involved withdrawing cash from the current and savings bank accounts belonging to the elderly woman she was caring for and using her debit card.

She said it was now considered that there should be nine charges instead of one charge and asked for the case to be adjourned until December 2.

Miss Dagnall said that after discussions with the defence "hopefully there will not need to be a trial".
Causey, 55, was further remanded on bail on condition she did not contact the alleged victim.
