Woman cut free from car after crash

A woman had to be rescued from her car by firefighters.

Fire crews were called to Bolton Road in Atherton, near to Asda, at 3.15pm today, Friday, where they cut a woman in her 50s free from her car after her vehicle was hit from behind by a van.

She was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital as a precaution with suspected spinal injuries but her condition isn’t thought to be serious.

Bolton Road was closed for about 20 minutes causing tailbacks back to Newbrook Road.
